Lt. Bob Shaffer is a 33-year veteran of the police force and a renowned statement analysis expert. He has completed more than 200 hours of training in modern statement analysis techniques and has provided classroom training sessions across North America, Asia, and the Middle East since 1997.
Lt. Shaffer has applied his analytical skills to high-profile cases such as George Zimmerman, Dylan Redwine, and Oscar Pistorius’ murder investigations, and he consults with law enforcement and private investigation firms nationwide. Currently serving as a lieutenant and primary statement analyst for the Loveland Police Department in Colorado, Lt. Jerry Crotty
Jerry Crotty is a highly accomplished expert in the Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA). With over 20 years of experience in law enforcement, including property crimes, person crimes, crimes against children, internet crimes against children, and fraud investigations, Jerry is a seasoned professional in the field. He is the Director of Law Enforcement for the National Institute of Truth Verification Federal Services and trains examiners of the CVSA. His work has been recognized in the book Malcontent by Sean R. DeGrilla, where he provided the first-ever CVSA examination that was published based on statements made by Lee Harvey Oswald. Millard F. “Fil” Waters II
Detective Fil Waters is a highly accomplished law enforcement professional, with a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management and an undergrad in Political Science. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps, conducting investigations and earning the Navy Achievement Medal. As a detective, he has worked on a wide range of cases with a 96% clearance rate on almost 400 murder investigations. In addition to his investigative work, Det. Waters has been a certified TCOLE Instructor since 1986, teaching law enforcement agencies both nationally and internationally on topics such as interviewing techniques, homicide investigations, courtroom testimony, ethics, and firearms training. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including Mayor’s and Chief’s Commendations.
Mark McClish
Mark McClish is a retired Supervisory Deputy United States Marshal with 26 years of federal law enforcement under his belt. He spent nine years teaching interviewing techniques at Marshals Service Training Academy. During that time, he studied deceptive statements and conducted reasearch which led him to develop techniques to detect deception in a verbal and written statement.
Mark retired from the Marshals Service in 2009 and now provides interviewing skills training and assists investigators in analyzing a suspect’s statement. Mark currently gives presentations on his statement analysis techniques throughout the United States and had authored two books, “I Know You Are Lying” and “Don’t Be Deceived.”
Bob Frier
After 25 years as the lead anchor in major markets from California to Florida, Bob stepped down from the anchor desk in 2020. He had covered major events, both local and national, like the devastating hurricanes of 2004, the Shuttle Columbia disaster, and interviewed nearly every major local and state politician in the days immediately following 9/11.
